From his Cacti Ep, Vol. 2, Aman Ellis has released a video for the single “Hawaiian Holiday in Hi-Fi,” which features an array of stock footage of people enjoying the beach, hula dancers, and other “Hawaiian” activities. While we slowly progress into the winter months, let Ellis’ blend of tropical lounge-y samples keep you warm.
A few days ago, Diplo released his Moombahton 2k11 Mix, which will certainly be cranked many times by us throughout the summer. Included on the mix is the Diplo and Skrillex collaboration, “Amplifier,” which features a blend of tropical, electro beats, with some good ole fashioned bass wobble. PS .. Diplo must have known that we LOVE sloths!

Swahili Blonde have released their single “Etoile De Mer”, which will appear on the band’s sophomore effort Psycho Tropical Ballet Pink on August 8th. You might recall that in a previous post, we mentioned that Swahili Blonde was the side-project of former RHCP guitarist John Frusciante. While we were correct at the time, according to Some Kind of Awesome, Frusciante “parted ways prior to the band’s release of their debut album Man Meat.” So, Frusciante is not a part of the band, BUT he still appears on “Etoile De Mer”, which means the sea star for all you francophones.
Last week, the Philly band known as Brown Recluse self-released their Panoptic Mirror Maze EP through bandcamp. When searching the band’s name, you will most likely find more pages about some gross looking spider than information about the band but don’t let that sway you! Imagine the band actually being a spider, 8 legs and all, with each one of their spider legs touching in to a different musical genre. Whether it be orchestral, tropical, experimental, indie, garage rock, or psychedelia, Brown Recluse has it covered. Take for example, “Mirror Mansion,” which we have a video for below ..
France is certainly not the first place I would expect surf rock to be coming out of but then again, I have been known to be wrong. Case in point, La Femme have an EP out titled Le Podium #1 which features bossy bass, drum-beat, theremin-infused guitar distortion and a cute-souding French girl commanding the vocals. [via] Below, we have the track “Sur La Planche” for you to check out, which loosely translates to “on the plate.”
In case you are not fluent in French, here are the translated lyrics to “Sur La Planche”:
“On a surf board / on the beach, on the wave, I’m searching for sensations / on a surfboard, in the tubes, I’m searching for sensations / you better not try and stop me from riding that wave, I’m invincible / if you dare push me in the tube, I will be waiting for you on the beach, on the wave” – La Femme, “Sur La Planche” [via No Modest Bear]
You can grab all of the Le Podium #1 EP over at bandcamp.
Last time we brought you music from Monster Rally, the weather was hot and the tropical loops that were featured on the release EP were a perfect way to relax through the heat. Now, the weather is getting pretty damn cold and as a reminder that summer will, in fact, return to us one day, Monster Rally has released 3 new psychedelic tracks from the forthcoming, limited edition, 12″ LP, Coral. Make sure to grab a copy in January 2011 through Gold Robot Records.
Geez it is going to start to look like Music for Perfect People is turning into a softcore porn site that happens to like the music in the background of the videos with all these NSFW posts we have been tossing up. But let’s face it .. the track “Bombay” is awesome itself and the inclusion of stock footage and vintage boobs certainly doesn’t take away anything from El Guincho‘s effort.
El Guincho is all set to release Pop Negro through Young Turks on 14th September but for now, take a listen to the album below!
The White Panda has released a delicious mash up of Dr. Dre + Snoop Dogg + Starf*cker just in time for the summer. It’s getting hot outside and a jam like this certainly won’t make things any cooler. Enjoy!
