Record Store Day is this Saturday and while a large amount of people will be participating in the celebration of independent record stores, others will not be able to (whether it be time constraints, lack of money, etc ..) For those that can’t make it out Saturday, check out Sub Pop Records‘ sampler, which is titled Terminal Sales Vol. 4: Please to Enjoy!

Last year, members of Man Man, Islands, and Modest Mouse joined forces to create the band Mister Heavenly, who have recently signed their “doom-wop” sound to Sub Pop Records. While we only had live video footage + audio rips from their short tour to give us any idea of what “doom-wop” truly is, today we have two digital singles that have been released to further your understanding! Knowing that a new Man Man album has been recorded and will be released some time in the near future is certainly one thing to get excited about. More excitement should arise, however, with the announcement of Mister Heavenly signing to Sub Pop Records! You may be asking yourself “what is the connection between Man Man + Mister Heavenly?” The answer, my friends, is two words .. one man … HONUS HONUS!
Spurred on by a mutual appreciation for doo-wop and doomed love songs (aka doom-wop), Nick Diamonds (Islands/Unicorns) and Honus Honus (Man Man) set out to record a one-off instrumental 7″ but soon found, within a span of a few late-night sessions, themselves writing an entire album. When Joe Plummer (Modest Mouse) joined in, Mister Heavenly was officially born. [via]
