Music for Perfect People

On Decmeber 9th, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will release their 37-track soundtrack for ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’, which is in theaters December 21st. From the 3 hour soundtrack, Reznor and Ross are currently offering a 6-track sampler, which clocks in around 35 minutes, and features the tracks “Hidden In Snow”, “People Lie All The Time”, “What If We Could?”, “Oraculum”, “Please Take Your Hand Away”, and “Under The Midnight Sun.” To recieve the sampler, just enter your e-mail below.

Additionally, Reznor and Karen O. (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) recorded a cover of Led Zeppelin‘s single “Immigrant Song”, which appears as the opening track on ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ soundtrack. The cover is now available through iTunes, and can be heard in full below.

Skrillex has recently released a brand-new track titled “Syndicate,” which was crafted specifically for, and titled after, Electronic Arts’ first person shooter videogame that will be released on 02/12/2012. The track was originally part of the video game trailer (view here,) but can now be previewed below thanks to Hypetrak. To download, head over to the Syndicate facebook page, and click the “like” button!

The soundtrack that Daft Punk created for Tron: Legacy has leaked its way onto the internet but the stir that some of the tracks have created has not yet settled down. Previously, “Derezzed” received the remix treatment from NTEIBINT and Cassette’s Won’t Listen, and today we have Breakdown‘s take on the single. Stream/download the mix below ..

The first jam that is up for your listening pleasure is from Karen O and is a cover of Roger Allan Wade’s “If You’re Gonna Be Dumb You Gotta Be Tough.” Thanks to SKoA for the track!

The other track we have to offer from the soundtrack is a new one from CKy called “Afterworld.” I was a HUGE CKy fan back in my high school days and I spent much of my time watching Jackass so it is good to see the band made it onto the soundtrack.

I suppose I can see the appeal to the movie The Social Network although I bet I don’t ever see it. Facebook was an awesome idea back in college when it was a young social networking site geared towards connecting college peers. At this point, however, I have graduated college, moved on to other ventures in life and use Facebook for the purpose of whoring out my website and it’s posts .. that’s about it. Pictures are no longer public, people worry about what others can see about them, and the original idea of Facebook seems to have gotten a bit out of hand. Whether you decide to see the movie or not (apparently it has gotten some positive reviews as you will see below,) the soundtrack to the film is something to note.

From the Film Stage:

As previously reported, Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor did indeed score David Fincher‘s The Social Network. Working with The Book of Eli‘s Atticus Ross, we have the first proof of that score as Sony just launched the official site for The Social Network. /Film has gathered the 46 new photos from the site if you want to check them out.

Reznor wasn’t kidding when he said it was “dark.” The score is minimal and brooding. I can’t wait to see how it fits into the film. If you haven’t already seen, Peter Travers said it was “the movie of the year that also brilliantly defines the decade.” Scott Foundas also had an extremely positive first review.

Let the Anamanaguchi overload begin!

I should probably start off by clarifying that the “new” singles I spoke about in the title to this post are in fact new tracks .. but they were the first of the group’s series of summer singles.  I somehow managed to miss posting these earlier and for that, I apologize.

Regardless, grab yourself a copy of the tracks “Airbrushed” and “Penpal” below and don’t forget to also take a listen to the video-game-loving quartet’s “Party Stronger” which was one of the tracks they recorded for the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World game soundtrack.
