Well over a year ago, Franz Ferdinand released a Covers EP for Record Store Day that just so happened to feature an LCD Soundsystem cover of the single “Live Alone.” As a little holiday treat, check out the video for the James Murphy & Co. cover.

As April 16 approaches, and your wallet readies itself for another Record Store Day, it is probably safe to assume that you have a list of items you want to purchase, and a list of places to find them. Well, make room on your list of “wants” as Franz Ferdinand will be releasing an EP titled Covers, which will feature other bands’ reworking of certain tracks off their 2009 release Tonight. The EP will feature LCD Soundsystem, Blondie‘s Deborah Harry, Peaches, and The Magnetic Fields’ Stephin Merritt.

You might have though LCD Soundsystem was done for good, but may be they had this trick up their sleeve all along. Regardless, check out LCD’s cover of “Live Alone” below ..

“There’s lights, and sounds, and stories, music’s just a part.” Those are the words from LCD Soundsystems‘ “You Wanted A Hit”, which perfectly summarize Saturday’s performance at Madison Square Garden. This performance, which followed 4 nights of shows at Terminal 5, ended James Murphy and company’s 10 year run as a band. There weren’t many tears, as far as I could see, but there were thousands of dancing bodies with large smiles attached to each head. Did I mention that Reggie Watts and the Arcade Fire joined the bandon stage as well?

If you have finally gotten over the news that LCD Soundsystem will be calling it quits after their final show at MSG this upcoming April, then you should certainly check out Dezlin‘s remix of the LCD single “Home.” By tossing a funky hook behind the original track, Devlin has managed to make LCD Soundsystem even more danceable.

Earlier this year, Shit Robot released the wonderful electronic album From the Cradle to the Rave, through DFA Records. Now, a video for the track “Take ‘Em Up” has been released and it, we see Nancy Whang, of LCD Soundsystem + The Juan Maclean fame, predominantly featured.

Last week we told y’all about the new, live album from LCD Soundsystem called The London Sessions. Now that we have listened to this beast over and over again there is no question in our minds that James Murphy and company can record a solid live album. Don’t believe me? Earlier this week, LCD Soundsystem announced that on November 9th, DFA/Virgin Records will be releasing The London Sessions. “The session itself was recorded in one day at the Pool/Miloco studios in South London on June 29 2010, in the week following this year’s triumphant Glastonbury performance.” [via]

As you should all know by now, LCD Soundsystem released a killer album this year called This is Happening. What you might not know (I sure didn’t) is that the digital release came with a bonus track called “Throw” which is a cover of a Carl Craig song of the same name.

Carl Craig hails from Detroit and is most known for his dirty techno/house music along with his own record label Planet E. According to OneThirtyBPM, “this Fall it appears as though “Throw” will finally be available physically, set to be released as the B-Side to a re-release of “Throw” on Craig’s own Planet E records.”

After seeing LCD Soundsystem live this past summer at Camp Bisco 9, I have been constantly looking for any videos/tracks/remixes that are put out by the band. Luckily, a video for”Home” was shot in Texas sometime during 2010 and has now been released! Enjoy the video that is filled with robots and good times..

Also popping up in LCD Soundsystem news is a video of the band performing “Dance Yrself Clean.” Why is this news? Well, according to CoS this is the first time this has track has been performed live so watch and wish you were there ..

I feel that it is safe to assume that by now you should have already heard LCD Soundsystem‘s  latest effort This is Happening or at least heard about it. Regardless, See Green (aka Courtenay Green) has taken the  ballad of a track “I Can Change” off This is Happening and transformed it into an uptempo pop rager.
