On March 6, 2012, Philly’s folk-rock trio Good Old War will release their third full-length Come Back as Rain through Sargent House. Below, we have the single “Calling Me Names” for you to enjoy, which happens to be the first track the band is sharing from the forthcoming LP. Back in 2009, Portland, Oregon psych-folk band Nurses released their homemade album Apple’s Acre, which featured the crooning vocals of Aaron Chapman, and a large array of instrumentation that made the album blend together quite nicely. As a follow-up to their previous works, Nurses will release their latest effort Dracula on September 20th through Dead Oceans.

With this announcement, we have been treated to our first taste of Dracula with the single “Fever Dreams,” which somewhat reminds me of Maps & Atlases, minus the odd time signatures, and dense sound.

On June 21st, the collaboration between Tom Greenberg and Molly Erin Sarle, BOBBY, will release their self-titled debut through Partisan Records. Bobby is an hour-long folk journey, that carries on like a dream. While the songs blend together, and at some points sounds like multiple songs playing at once, there is still a feeling of structure, which helps focus your attention to certain instruments/vocals lines.

Whether it be the multi-layered vocals, or the thick instrumention, Bobby makes for a solid listen as background music, or in the forefront, grabbing all of your attention. Trust us, there are enough layers of sound in this album to keep you busy for a while.

With a June 21st release date rapidly approaching for Bon Iver, it should come as now surprise that tracks from the Justin Vernon’s sophomore effort would slowly make their way on to the interwebs. While living in the digital age, I occasionally forget that there are actual people behind the instruments. May be this is true for some of you. May be it is not.  Personally, I was reminded of this notion while watching the Georgia jam band Little Tybee perform their track “Signal Below” live in the BTR studio. The single features intricate guitar lines, and sweeping drum patterns, which I did not realize were so complicated when I originally listened to their latest effort Humorous To Bees. That is, of course, until I watched the following video ..

On April 12th, the experimental, Swedish trio known as Fredrik will release their latest effort Flora through The Kora Records. To celebrate the release, the band compiled a large amount of footage in their hometown of Malmö, and used Flora as the soundtrack. Check it out below.

From her forthcoming album Thunder Thighs, Kimya Dawson has released the 10-minute single “Walk Like Thunder” for stream/download. Not only do Dawson’s vocals cut straight to the bone (or the heart if you have one,) but the roster of artists included on the track is quite amazing as well! The track features:

Over the past few years of listening to their music and attending numerous live shows, I have grown to become a huge fan of the Portland quintet known as The Builders & The Butchers. In case you are unfamiliar, their sound is a wonderful blend of indie, folk and bluegrass, which is highlighted by the vocals of Ryan Solee.

Earlier this month, the Builders & The Butchers released their latest full-length Dead Reckoning and to give you a taste of what the album has to offer, check out the single “Rotten to the Core” below ..

The London-based artist Alessio Natalizia, aka Banjo or Freakout, is set to release his self-titled debut in the US on March 8th through Rare Book Room (March 7th for the UK) and below, we have the entire album streaming for your pleasure. Today marks my first exposure to Banjo or Freakout and all I can say is that his blend of electronic, indie rock, folk, and bedroom pop is certainly nothing to sleep on.
