Music for Perfect People

It seems as though it was just last month that songstress McKenzie Eddy released her first free mixtape, A Prelude to My Next Excursion, and now, we have her second effort, which is titled McKenzie Eddy’s Greatest Hits. Featured on the release is an intro from Wiz Khalifa, production by Ski Beatz, recording/mixing from Sean O’Connell, some additional vocals from Nicole Wray, and cover art by Raquel Horn. My personal, favorite track is the Syzzup remix of the Prelude single “Retrograde”, which takes the original, mellow track, and transforms it into a killer electro jam that showcases Eddy’s beautiful voice. For a complete tracklisting, click here.

Earlier this week, we posted the Prelude To My Next Excursion mixtape from McKenzie Eddy, which noted that the NY songstress would be appearing in a bunch of DD172 projects later this year. Below, we have footage of two of these projects.

First, we have a short trailer for the Muscle Car Chronicles, an album produced by Sean O’Connell and film starring Curren$y and McKenzie Eddy, which is due out this spring. Second on the list is Sean O’Connell’s video for “An Empire View,” which is the first song off of his new album Free at First Light. [NOTE: both the trailer and the music video are contained in the vimeo video below]

Since moving to New York City and teaming up with Damon Dash to develop his multimedia collective known as DD172, our old friend McKenzie Eddy has come in to contact with many famous artists in the art/music scene. While she plans a solo release later this Spring, McKenzie dropped her mixtape A Prelude To My Next Excursion to give us all a sample of what she has been working on and will  release in later projects.

The first, “Aerials,” is a smooth jam that features the vocal stylings of Stalley, Curren$y, Whosane, Terri Walker, and everyone’s favorite, Mos Def.  The second, “Prowler,” is more uptempo and features Jean Grae, Jay Electronica, Joell Ortiz, and again, Mos Def.
