For volume one of their Vicious Circles EP, Hand Drawn Dracula has brought together Black Moth Super Rainbow, Holy Fuck, and Shugo Tokumaru‘s interpretations of each other’s work. The result is five “cover” songs that are filled with “a unique blend of krautrock, psychedelic and electro-pop.” [via] Oh, did we mention the release is free? Early this morning, Portugal. The Man appeared on Last Call with Carson Daly for an interview and a performance of the first two tracks from their latest effort In The Mountain, In The Cloud.

Additionally, we have some live footage of PTM performing their b-side “The Devil,” along with a very energetic rendition of “Helter Skelter.”

I’m still not quite sure how this collaboration came about, but Weird Al and the Roots have covered the Madvillain (MF DOOM + Madlib) track “Accordian.” Apparently, the next release will be DOOM covering Weird Al’s “Eat It.”

While I admity that I did not see this coming, I am pleased to announce that The Death Set have combined their raw punk rock energy with Daedalus‘ experimental samples from “Fair Weather Friends.” The cover may seem heavy at first, but The Death Set’s incorporation of electro beats certainly makes the tune much more accessible.

From Love You Moon:

While RX Bandits were in Caracas Venezuela in 2009 on our South American tour, I was able to spend many hours in the Waipea Records studio on our days off. Our Venezuelan brother Marcel recorded tons of my freestyle jamming with an acoustic guitar into the wee hours of the night. Well, he surprised me by taking a section of the session and getting some awesome Venezuelan musicians (Waipea Allstars) to play over my track.

On their debut album Ultraglide in Black, The Dirtbombs covered the funk and soul tracks that bandleader Mick Collins grew up with. Nearly ten years later, the group will release Party Store, which features a shift in focus towards Detroit techno from the 80′s and early 90′s.
