Starting yesterday, Tom Waits began streaming his forthcoming effort Bad As Me, which isn’t due out until October 24th. Members of Tom Waits’ mailing list were e-mailed a uniqe code that gave access to the stream.  If you did not receive a code, you can request one here. The stream will only be available this week and will stop on Friday so get moving!

Earlier this week, DJ/Producer RJD2 and vocalist Aaron Livingston premiered The Abandoned Lullaby, which is the duo’s debut release as Icebird. Whether he is operating solo, as The Insane Warrior, or now as Icebird, RJD2 never fails to serve up delicious beats that showcase his unique style of production. Add the smooth vocals of Livingston and you’ve got yourself a solid record, which cannot be missed.

Additionally, Icebird, along with Soundcloud and Native Instruments, is holding a remix competition for the single “Charmed Life.” The contest runs until October 31, and the grand prize winner will receive a pro account with Soundcloud for a year and a MASCHINE MIKRO + KOMPLETE 8 from Native Instruments. Thanks to NPR, fans who were displeased with the announcement that Björk‘s Biophilia was getting its official release pushed back to October 10th, can now stream the album in its entirety. According to Björk, the album, which was created as a collaboration between iPad apps, needed some fine tuning after the Icelandic pop musician played some of the material live.

Apparently, the Horrors latest effort Skying leaked over the weekend, and so the band decided to stream the entire album via their website! For those looking for a physical copy of the album, the UK lucked out with a July 11th release date, while the US will have to wait until August 9th.

After one listen through Washed Out‘s Sub Pop debut Within and Without, you will get the sense that Ernest Greene’s one-man, bedroom project has evolved in a big way. Where earlier recordings give the sense that Greene was “trapped” in a room, with nothing more than an array of synthesizers, Within and Without features a larger sound that holds true to Washed Out’s distinct brand of lo-fi, chillwave, pop music.

On June 21st, the collaboration between Tom Greenberg and Molly Erin Sarle, BOBBY, will release their self-titled debut through Partisan Records. Bobby is an hour-long folk journey, that carries on like a dream. While the songs blend together, and at some points sounds like multiple songs playing at once, there is still a feeling of structure, which helps focus your attention to certain instruments/vocals lines.

Whether it be the multi-layered vocals, or the thick instrumention, Bobby makes for a solid listen as background music, or in the forefront, grabbing all of your attention. Trust us, there are enough layers of sound in this album to keep you busy for a while.
