Check out Steve Grant’s unofficial video for Anamanaguchi‘s single “Mermaid,” which is the closing track of the 8-bit punk rockers’ Dawn Metropolis. Being that the band provided the soundtrack for the Scott Pilgrim video game, it seems fitting that footage from the 2010 film ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. The World’ provides the visual accompaniment to “Mermaid.”

On July 12th, Zomby will release his sophomore album Dedication, which is debut on the 4AD label. I would highly suggest this album to anyone who is a fan of 8-bit jams or Zomby’s “jungle-dubstep-rave-garage hybrid” sound. [via]

After releasing a couple of tracks over the summer of 2010 and showing their support for the alco-carbonated beverage Fourloko, the 8-bit pop group Anamanaguchi are heading back on the road with Peelander-Z and odds are, they’re coming to a town near you. Additionally, Anamanaguchi plan to release a  7” of their single “Airbrushed,” which we previously posted a few months back but have included below as well. If you want to get your hands on the physical release, you’ll have to visit the band at their merch table while they’re on tour!

The UK’s Drums of Death and Mumdance have teamed up under the Mums of Death moniker to create the Golden Axe EP, which is titled after one of my favorite childhood video games. The combination of 8-bit and deep bass really blends well with the visuals of a viking heading to the club where Mums of Death are DJing. Immediatley upon arrival, our warrior friend throws back some ecstasy and side-scrolls through the party 8-bit style. You can probably consider this track the “secret level” you’ve been looking for in life ..

The French trio We Are Enfant Terrible had quite the exciting November! Not only were they signed to Last Gang Entertainment, but they also released their third EP titled Wild Fish. Below, you can check out the EP opener “Wild Child” but I must warn you .. this track is a wonderful blend of electro, 8-bit, punk, and funk that you will have on repeat for quite some time.

Since Anamanaguchi and Gucci Mane have some similar letter pairings in their names, it makes complete sense that they be combined to Anamanagucci Mane. If you plan on creating a clever band name, however, there had best be some awesome mixes to back up the project. Luckily, “I’m The Sh1t” and “Stoopid Relix” do not disappoint as 8-bit chiptunes are combined with the vocal stylings of Gucci Mane. Who knew?!
