From their forthcoming LP, which should be released at some point in 2012, the Swedish trio Miike Snow has released a new track titled “Devil’s Work”, along with a film accompaniment.

During this year’s CMJ in NYC, Portugal. The Man stopped by The Ace Hotel for a semi-acoustic performance of a handful of tracks. In the interview portion, Zach Carothers and Ryan Neighbors discussed where the name for their latest LP In The Mountain, In The Cloud  came from, how their acoustic performances are different from their electric performances, along with some other questions pertaining to the band’s move from Alaska to Portland, and when they knew they “made it.”

Manu Chao‘s “Clandestino” is such a gorgeous track. That being said, here is some background info of the performance:

“While in Arizona, Manu Chao visited the perimeter fence of the notorious jail facility known as ‘Tent City’, which was conceived by Sheriff Arpaio, and where inmates are forced to suffer degrading treatment and to endure the extreme temperature range of the desert by living outside in tents.

Manu Chao, along with bandmate Madjid Fahem, serenaded the walls of the jail with a heartfelt rendition of his song ‘Clandestino’. This version was captured on film by filmmaker Alex Rivera, whose work strives to draw attention to the Latin-American community in the US.” [via]

After running a successful kickstarter project that raised around $11,000, Little Tybee have released their video for “Boxcar Fair.” Featuring a puppet who stumbles upon a magical fair in the desert, “Boxcar Fair” is an impressive showing of artistry. What is most impressive is the fact that the video was shot in one take with no edits!

According to Paper Garden Records, Little Tybee will have a new LP that is set to be released some time in March 2012!

As The Polyphonic Spree celebrates its 11th year in existence, they have released the single “It’s Christmas,” which was recorded in 2003 around the same time as Together We’re Heavy. The track somehow got lost in the shuffle but was recently found and mastered. Additionally, the band has another brand new track “Bullseye,” which is “the first single released from a collection of songs from the forthcoming label, Good Records Recordings.”

It has been eleven or so years since Primus released a music video. That is, of course, until IFC premiered Primus’ visuals for the single “Tragedy’s a’ Comin’”, which comes off the band’s latest LP Green Naugahyde and features an up-beat sound along with lyrics from Les Claypool that speak of an impending doom.

So, how did Primus go about giving the single the video treatment? Well, the band decided to go the lobster route since a lobster about to be dropped into a boiling pot of water is as clear an example of impending doom as I can think of. After watching the video a few times, I can only hope that Les Claypool incorporates the lobster suit into the band’s live performance! Who’s with me?

Since The Rapture‘s return to the music scene with the release of their latest LP In The Grace Of Your Love, the band’s discography has been on constant rotation here at MFPP. To celebrate our love for The Rapture, we have two treats in store for you!

First is “In Love Divine,” which is a 7 minute track that was included as a bonus single for the Japanese release of In The Grace Of Your Love.” Thanks to SKoA for the track!

Our second treat is the new video The Rapture released for In The Grace Of Your Love‘s opening track “Sail Away.” While “Sail Away” was not a standout track for me on the LP, the video is entertaining enough as frontman Luke Jenner rides around on what appears to be a piece of tinfoil.

Earlier this year, Honus Honus from Man Man, Nicholas Thorburn of Islands, and Joe Plummer of Modest Mouse, joined up to form the supergroup Mister Heavenly, and released their debut  LP Out of Love through Sub Pop Records.

For the album’s opener, “Bronx Sniper,” Mister Heavenly created a video featuring a child who loves playing with his Man Wolf figurine. That is until his father spills milk on the toy and it transforms into a highly destructive force that wreaks havoc on the family’s house.

Earlier today, Man Man debuted their music video for “Piranhas Club,” which is off the band’s latest effort Life Fantastic. In the video, we see a group of children who adjust their attitudes once they dress like a greaser (i.e. slicked back hair and a leather jacket) and take on a group of bullies.

Life Fantastic is currently one of MFPP’s top albums of 2011 and can be purchased here.
