The Rapture hold “How Deep Is Your Love?” remix competition

November 17, 2011

As a follow-up to yesterday’s post regarding The Rapture‘s new video for “Sail Away,” and a bonus track that was included on the Japanese release of In The Grace Of Your Love, we wanted to let everyone know that the band is holding a remix competition for the single “How Deep Is Your Love?”

Check out the info below and start remixing!

From DFA Records:

“How Deep Is Your Love?” by The Rapture – if we can be a bit self-congratulatory – is a pretty awesome song. We know you guys agree. That’s why, for the first time in our 10 year history, we’d like to ask you folks to share your take on the track with us. Download the stems via the soundcloud player below and craft whatever sort of remix you’d like. Once you complete your masterpiece, submit it to the dropbox on the bottom of the page for a chance at fame and fabulous prizes! Three runners-up will win signed copies of In The Grace Of Your Love, while a grand prize winner will win a one year Soundcloud Pro account, valued at 250 euros! The final 5 selections will be played live on a very special live White Out Sessions broadcast and can be voted on via a live feed twitter and discussed amongst a “panel of experts”. The deadline for all entries is Monday December 5, so get to it!

Grab the stems here. Enter submission here.

For those of you who need a refresher, here is the original track:

The Flaming Lips to stream 24-hour track on Halloween

October 27, 2011

Just in case The Flaming Lips‘ 6-hour song was not enough for you, the band will be streaming their brand new 24-hour track starting at midnight (Oklahoma time) on Halloween. Keep an eye on how much time is left until the stream (in OK time) below.

According to Pitchfork, The Lips’ frontman Wayne Coyne has described the track as “a song about death and it’s a song about fucking and it’s a song about life,” which seems to be fitting since the band plans to embed a hard drive that contains the track into 5 different human skulls. That’s right, no more of those gummy skulls/fetus. This time, the lucky folks who manage to get their hands on a copy will receive a real human skull. Thanks to YANP for the heads up!

READ THIS :: Foo Fighters 2011 Tour Rider

June 15, 2011

The only tour riders that generally see the light of day are the truly obnoxious ones (wuddup Katy Perry!), so it’s easy for the rest of us to forget how personally important they are to the artists who write them.

When you spend half a year (or more) away from home, stuffed on a bus with a few dozen of your closest friends, finding food & amenities exactly how you envision them in your head is a huge comfort. Remember how you felt when you ordered a crispy chicken club from Wendy’s drive-through, got a couple blocks away, and realized they gave you a fucking grilled chicken club instead? Multiply that disappointment by 1,000.

With that in mind, feast on the official Foo Fighters 2011 Tour Rider, which says in the funniest, nicest, and most honest way what the fuck they want for dinner. Includes coloring, maze, and word search activities!

CHECK IT :: The Rapture to release new album ‘In The Grace Of Your Love’ + DFA Radiomix

May 27, 2011

My first taste of NYC’s dance-punk outfit The Rapture came through their single “Out Of The Races And Onto The Tracks,” which I first heard back in high school. The jangly guitars, catchy dance riffs, and killer lyrics (i.e. “shake, shake, shake, shake”) really turned me on to their sound, and after seeing them perform live, I was hooked. With the release of their 2002 debut Echoes, which featured the infectious single “House Of Jealous Lovers,” The Rapture began to gain more ground in the music scene, and their live shows/DJ sets became a settled source of great music in NYC.

Now, The Rapture are ready to return to your stereos with the September 6 release of  In The Grace Of Your Love through DFA Records. While we only have the tracklist to offer at this time, we will keep you updated as any new information/tracks emerge!

In The Grace Of Your Love tracklist::
1. Sail Away
2. Miss You
3. Blue Bird
4. Come Back To Me
5. In The Grace Of Your Love
6. Never Gonna Die Again
7. Roller Coaster
8. Children
9. Can You Find a Way?
10. How Deep Is Your Love?
11. It Takes Time to Be a Man

Speaking of DFA Records, The Rapture’s bassist, Gabriel Andruzzi, recently released a radiomix he created for the music label, which can be heard/downloaded  below. Make sure to click the “info” tab on the player for the tracklist!

ON TOUR :: The Bronx/Mariachi El Bronx

May 18, 2011

Los Angeles, California’s The Bronx have just announced the last boat trip you’ll ever go on. The punk/rock/hardcore/whatever band will play a 3 hour show aboard the SS Queen of Hearts, which casts off from New York City’s Pier 40 on June 22.  This 21+ booze cruise has a strict capacity of 500, so get a ticket while you can. We suggest leaving any lady-friends at home.

The Bronx’s alter ego (and dead serious) Mariachi El Bronx will be opening for The Flaming Lips in Atlanta on May 19 and 20. Also, they will be opening for the Foo Fighters, along with Rise Against, this fall. Check out their full slate of dates here, and a studio performance via Converse below.
