[Acoustic] VIDEO :: Portugal. The Man – “My Mind” + “Shade”

January 28, 2011

According to the Portugal. The Man, they just found this video of one of their acoustic performance of the Church Mouth single “My Mind” on their hard drive. Also from the same session is the band performing “Shade,” which happened to be the first video I saw of the PTM around two years ago. Needless to say, I fell in love immediately. Check both of them out below ..

BAND TO WATCH :: The Parallax View

January 28, 2011

The Parallax View, aside from being a 1974 thriller, is the musical project of New Jerey’s own Tyler Koykas. What makes this project run is Koykas’ determination to make his music get off the ground and in to your ears. Just by listening through his short (but sweet) catalog on bandcamp, you can see how the project has already begun to evolve! What started with The Flow Of Things (Early and Unfinished Works), an early experimentation of ambient sounds, lo-fi electronics, and different organ tones, has now become a more cohesive force with his Self-Titled Demos 2011 and the sneak peek into Mashed Brain Soup.

Eventhough The Parallax View is new to the scene, he has already signed on to Woozy Tribe, which was founded by Father LongLegs and serves a community of all different artists in the Northeast. Additionally, he is currently re-recording his Self-Titled Demos 2011 to be re-released as The Parallax View EP featuring production from Father LongLegs.

Once released, the self-titled EP will be accompanied by a DVD and the complete remix/mashup compilation Mashed Brain Soup. Appearing on the comp will be Father LongLegs, Eat The Soundtrack, LeadAcidGymnastics, Anarom, Bicycle Killer, Power Pill Fist, Slate, Zackey Force Funk, P.Bateman, and possibly yours truly!

Check out some tracks from Self Titled Demos 2011 below.

VIDEO :: Art vs Science – “Magic Fountain” + “Finally See Our Way”

January 27, 2011

The Australian trio Art vs Science are planning to release their Magic Fountain EP, which features electronic dance music that was created for Marshall stacks, this March in the US. Their music is an electronic hybrid that does not use any sort of computer, backing track or samples. Instead, everything you hear was recorded by the band and is performed live through guitar amps, a keyboard, and a drumkit.

To further my point, check out the videos for “Magic Fountain” and “Finally See Our Way” below. Feel that energy!

January 27, 2011

Atlanta’s genre bending Spree Wilson has released the track “Don’t Pass Me By” from his upcoming debut The Never Ending Now. DOWNLOAD :: Selebrities – “We’ve Been Foolish” [Team Rojas Remix]

January 27, 2011

Check out ED4R and Stravinsky (aka Team Rojas) as they remix the Selebrities‘s single “We’ve Been Foolish.”

From Team Rojas:

Our love of boogie, classic house, and disco translated into our amalgamation. Recorded at (the very prolific) Kabuki Iron Kolors’ studio, we switched up a New Wave sound into a dance floor-appropriate dub.
