From Tame Impala:

Shot outside the country town of Mildura, 500 odd kilometres from Melbourne, the “Lucidity” video was a leap into the unknown, a series of experiments and blind faith launches into the final frontier, involving cameras being launched into space inside weather balloons, tracking all that went on below, including Tame Impala ripping through “Lucidity”.

November 9th marks the next releases from the Black Moth Super Rainbow frontman Tobacco and this time a round we will see some new songs along with reworked material from this year’s Maniac Meat. As is the case with almost all BMSR/Tobacco releases, this will be limited and on a picture disc. Aloe Blacc has recently released his amazigly soulful album Good Things through Stones Throw Records and in the video below, we see Mr. Blacc performing his hit single “I Need a Dollar.”

You’ve heard him performing the theme song to HBO’s hit series “How to Make It in America” and now we introduce you to the man. They say patience is a virtue which is definitely the case for Aloe Blacc and a reason why his sophomore album is called ‘Good Things’ (just released, find it at iTunes or your local music retailer). It’s been four years since Aloe’s debut record (Shine Through) and what a world of difference it’s been from 2006 to 2010. The path from his 2006 debut to Good Things is akin to the maturation of Marvin Gaye between That’s the Way Love Is and the What’s Going On masterwork that followed. Aloe has never purported to be any heir to Gaye, but musically, Good Things and What’s Going On are companion pieces as both albums establish a character for the artists that sets them apart from the sea of performers making very vivid and discernible—yet normative and conformist—statements about who they are and what they do. Good Things is a definitive declaration that places Aloe directly in the framework of modern soul and will immediately draw comparisons to the likes of Donny Hathaway, Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers & Bobby Womack.

Taking to his twitter account, Diplo just made everyone in the blogosphere aware of the remix he and Lunice worked on for Deerhunter‘s track “Helicopter.”

In my eyes, the Glassroom Sessions have now become a staple in the Sargent House. Every time band members of a group on their roster stops in for a visit or a short stay, they record a track live in this beautiful space. Today, we have Dave Davison (aka Cast Spells) being joined by his bandmates in Maps & Atlases and Teri Gender Bender (of Le Butcherettes) in the Glassroom Session of “Glamorous Glowing.”

There isn’t anything overly complex about Canadian singer/songwriter Donovan Woods‘ music other than all the different emotions that pour forth from the speakers allowing his acoustic guitar and tender voice to hit your ears. His voice reminds me a bit of Ben Otwell from Gomez on occasion and the instrumentation and guitar work on his tracks are so mellow that your focus goes immediately back to the honesty in his voice. There’s no tricks here .. just a man pouring it all out for us to enjoy.

Geez it is going to start to look like Music for Perfect People is turning into a softcore porn site that happens to like the music in the background of the videos with all these NSFW posts we have been tossing up. But let’s face it .. the track “Bombay” is awesome itself and the inclusion of stock footage and vintage boobs certainly doesn’t take away anything from El Guincho‘s effort.

After seeing the Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group perform in NYC a little over a week ago, I am quite pleased to share some live footage Sargent House released of the band’s LA gig. From where I was sitting in NYC it wasn’t as easy to see everyone on stage performing (due to an obstruction of view by some rafters and the blinding the lights that were being kicked out from the stage) but these videos are up front and well .. amazing.
