Sargent House is not only the best label around (in my opinion) but they also have the Glassroom which happens to be one of the best rooms for recording live music. Below, you can check out Lisa Papineau performing the track “Sorry I Cannot English” off her Red Trees album, in the aforementioned Glassroom.

Let the Anamanaguchi overload begin!

I should probably start off by clarifying that the “new” singles I spoke about in the title to this post are in fact new tracks .. but they were the first of the group’s series of summer singles.  I somehow managed to miss posting these earlier and for that, I apologize.

Regardless, grab yourself a copy of the tracks “Airbrushed” and “Penpal” below and don’t forget to also take a listen to the video-game-loving quartet’s “Party Stronger” which was one of the tracks they recorded for the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World game soundtrack.

In my normal routine I usually find myself looking for upbeat and funky jams to help me push through my daily activities. As I sit here in my new, half-empty apartment, however, something more mellow and and in tune to hanging out by myself is in need. Luckily, I stumbled upon tracks from the west coast duo Lazertag, whose blend of mellow, nostalgic music is perfect for any setting as they also add synthesizers, drum machines, and video game sounds to the mix.

Simian Mobile Disco have released a series of singles called Delicatessan & Delicacies with each track named after some sort of obscure food. In April, the duo served up the ‘Delicatessen’ portion with the tracks “Nerve Salad” and “Aspic” but for today’s main course, or “Delicacies,” we have “Casu Marzu” and “Thousand Year Egg.” The tracks are certainly tastier than the foods themselves as Casu Marzu was called one of the most terrifying foods in the world and the Thousand Year Egg is well .. pretty self explanatory.

Has this album grown on anyone? I am usually not a big fan of their live show but their performance of “Brian Eno” on Letterman made me get into the track.

Check out the information below for a music event happening tonight in NYC! Local artists and musicians are gathering at the St. Marks Cathedral to perform and show off their works in an effort to raise money for the St. Marks Food Pantry. Help the cause and enjoy a candlelight evening filled with art and music.

On Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 7:30PM, New Yorkers will be gathering at the beautiful St. Marks Cathedral to listen to some great tunes and check out up-and-coming artists for a great cause. The Pantry Party is in its seventh installment, with its roots back in New Jersey, and its goal is to furnish St. Marks Food Pantry with a huge donation. $10 is the asking price at the door, but the price is offset by $1 for each can of food that you bring. Founders of The Pantry Party, Jeff Petriello and Marla Lacherza, have decided to move this cause to NYC to take advantage of the amazing local music, art and cultural scene that our city is bursting with, while giving back to the community.
