El-P just dropped a tweet that he released a previously lost demo of the rack “Everything Must Go.” In regards to the track, El-P said that “this was the original demo of “everything must go” from 2007s ISWYD album. it was revamped for the record so this version has been tucked away in the files for years. enjoy!”

How nice it is to see a bunch of fellas who are around my age and live in the same area (tri-state area,) making good music while doing well for themselves. I certainly wish I had the same fortune but that is another story. Anyways, the group I am refering to is The Postelles! It should come to no suprise that their blend of doo-wop and garage rock sounds eerily like a beefed up product of The Strokes since their self-titled debut album was co-produced with the Strokes’ guitarist Albert Hammond Jr.

Since no one knows when any material will be coming from Mr. Hammond and his crew, swerve your focus on the Postelles and check out their latest video for “White Night.”

It appears that this is the week of finding obscure bands that do not have much information floating around the interwebs but as I have said before .. this is not a bad thing. Simona hail from Mexico City, released an earlier EP, México Distrito Federal, México Distrito Federal, México Distrito Federal (DOWNLOAD HERE,) and performed at SXSW this past year. That is all I found .. mainly because I do not speak Spanish and could not read the few articles I came across.

The Dirty Projectors and Björk have teamed up to create a 7 track EP, titled Mount Wittenberg Orca, to benefit the National Geographic Society Oceans Project. The EP is available digitally here for a donation amount of $7, $25, $50, or $100 .. you can go from cheap to steep with your donation but its for a good cause!

In the letter below, David Longstreth of the Dirty Projectors explains the project:

We’ve decided to give away all the money that Wittenberg generates to the project of creating international marine protected areas. Only 1% of the oceans are protected in any way and this is a huge problem. We’re working with the National Geographic Society to create areas of sustainability, so the oceans don’t end up like a giant poisonous corpse hugging the continents. We’re so psyched about how this recording came out and hope you are too. Don’t listen on those tinny computer speakers — put in on the stereo and blast dat shiiiiiiiiii!!

Madlib Medicine Show #7: High Jazz is an all-new Madlib jazz production. High Jazz, the name itself a tribute to the landmark jazz-fusion album released by Stanton Davis’s Ghetto Mysticism in 1976, shows a marked development in Madlib’s craft.

I have really been digging a ton of the Madlib releases on Stones Throw but my only complaint is that I still don’t fully understand all the different series/releases he has put out. I’ll continue my research while you enjoy the track “Funky Butt” by Poyser, Riggins & Jackson, which appears on High Jazz.
