LISTEN :: Lizzie Huffman and her Brother Band
May 7, 2010
Country music has never really been my thing. That being said, Lizzie Huffman‘s 10” debut release through Suburban Home Records has provided me an album that I would certainly consider “country” in a sense and one that I would also consider very enjoyable! Her powerhouse voice and wonderful storytelling ability combined with the minimal instrumentation backing her have seemingly created a new take on the genre that I never dare lay hands (or ears) on. Did I mention that Lizzie Huffman and Kirk Huffman from Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground are brother and sister? Or how about the fact that Kirk Huffman, Thomas Hunter, Kyle O’Quin and Phil Peterson of Kay Kay all appear on the album on the production side or as Lizzie’s backing band?
As if the music itself wasn’t good enough, I ordered the record a few months back and was very pleased to receive a gorgeous burgundy colored 180 gram vinyl (Check out a sweet pic!) Suburban Home Records .. you’ve released another masterpiece! Listen to the album below and don’t forget to pick yourself up a copy now .. the vinyl is limited to 300 red copies!
