Though I Never Pray God Reigns Today
May 7, 2009In case you have forgotten, fan is short for fanatic and that perfectly describes my love for the RX Bandits and Portugal. The Man … this is why I dedicate a couple short posts once in a while updating you, the beautiful people of the interweb, with album art, new ideas, etc …
For today, I have a new album teaser by the RX Bandits .. just wanna give you a little more insight into the minds of these cats .. they rock and I love it. The fact that this band records and writes in the manner that they do is so rad .. what better a way to give the people the TRUE and HONEST way you sound than recording all together in one room together rather than breaking each instrument down in some sound booth … while I can appreciate musicians that “want a certain sound,” going into the studio and playing one riff over and over until its right but then not being able to perform it live is just lame. RXB give you the music the way you deserve to hear it .. the way it will sound live. Ok enough of this rant about recording … on to a rant about the album!
The new album sounds like a new direction for the band but that’s exactly what people (namely myself) want! Evolution of music is a beautiful thing and bands that can’t change their sound should start migrating towards the elephant graveyard .. but that’s just my opinion. Anyways ..
ENJOY!

As for Portugal. The Man .. their new album “The Satanic Satanist” has been recorded as an “electric” album but apparently now also has an acoustic accompaniment that may also be released. Come on .. thats just cool! The band said that they just started doing this in their free time and the acoustic version was just the end product.
Anyways, I have attached a couple photos the band released of the packaging for their new album. John Gourley along with Austin Sellers
(www.austinmadethis.com) have worked hard on putting this together .. the goal was to give the buyer/listener an album cover/case that isnt just a holder for your vinyl/cd .. they want it to be a work of art. Being from Alaska, Gourley wanted to give the people the sense of mountains surrounding you. Take a look a notice that even the CD/vinyl itself is part of the piece of art (the sun!)

While this is a rough cut of the album case, I do not thing the end result will be far from these photos .. unless of course the manufacturers have a fit about the detail involved. Anyways, I am really excited not only for the music, but I am also to see the finished product. I am a big fan of Gourley’s drawing style and his use of water colors, etc ..
See! we are a website of music and arts!
