I didn't know Beck wasn't responsible for the production. I guess that explains why it's so different. I think "Lost Cause" is the saddest song on there, because it starts out and you hear the temp and think, "hey, a happy song!" but then the lyrics are just "Baby I'm a lost cause" over and over. "Guess I'm Doing Fine" is good music. It's odd. This album doesn't really make me feel depressed, it only makes me sad for Beck, like he's your friend who got his heart broken and won't stop dwelling on it, but instead of complaining about who or what his girlfriend did/is doing he plays beautiful music ...which makes it ok. if i was beck i would of hooked up with a supermodel rather than write an emotionally revealing album.
